The Cornish Rex's signature ultra-thin, guard-hair-free coat isn't just low-maintenance styling — it leaves the cat with little real insulation or sun protection, so these cats chill and sunburn far more easily than a normal-coated cat and often need sweaters or strictly indoor, temperature-controlled living.
Munchkin's short legs come from a dwarfism gene, breeding two Munchkins together kills roughly a quarter of the resulting kittens before birth because a double dose of the gene is lethal in the womb, and the Cat Fanciers' Association, Britain's GCCF, and the Fédération Internationale Féline all refuse to recognize the breed specifically because they consider deliberately propagating that gene a welfare problem.
