What you won't hear at the sale

A white Turkish Angora — especially one with blue eyes — carries a meaningfully higher risk of being born completely deaf, a well-documented side effect of the same gene that gives the breed its prized pure-white coat, which is why responsible breeders BAER-test white kittens' hearing before selling them.

Living with a Turkish Angora

AffectionateEnergeticIntelligentDemanding

This is a demanding, doglike cat that wants to be wherever you are and involved in whatever you're doing — closed doors and long solo hours don't suit it well. The single coat is deceptively easy to maintain since there's no thick undercoat to mat, but the cat itself needs real daily engagement, not just food and a litter box.
